A Crown of Chains

“People will assume they can take advantage of a pretty girl like you, and when that happens, I want you to be the one that holds all the power. You are capable of more than you realize.”

How could he forget such rage and injustice so quickly?

“I would risk life itself to save you from this.” Owen whispers, closing the already short distance between us.

Perhaps Ehyen has placed you here for such a time as this, so that you do not need to do anything but have faith, and through you He will save the lives of many.”

“Let Him find another way. Let him perform this impossible miracle without me, if He truly can.” Sergus presses his lips together and lets out a long sigh. “I believe He can, and He will.” ‘But do not count yourself among the saved if you shrink back now.

Do not shrink back in fear of these enemies who seek to destroy you. You have not been forgotten. Have faith and persevere.’

Maybe Ehyen had never forgotten me. Even when I was trying to run away, He was working out the pieces to perfectly fit into His plan.

“I guess there is some use in wishing for the impossible,” I tease as I approach the throne. “Or maybe I shouldn’t be so concerned with whether or not wishes come true. Faith is having courage, even when everything seems impossible, isn’t it? Even when wishes don’t come true. Even when pain is the path to salvation.
