If I go up to your room, does that mean you’re going to keep your hands to yourself?” “No. My hands will be all over your body.” Leaning closer, I put my lips against her ear. “My hands, my mouth, and my cock. Baby, if you say yes, you’re going to be up all fucking night.”
“You are infuriatingly, indecently beautiful,” I told her. “And I might never forgive you for making me want you so badly.”
“Oh my God,” she whimpered. “I didn’t even have to ask.” “You should never have to ask.”
“I like hearing you say that word—please.” I dragged the black lace thong down her legs and tossed it aside. “It makes you sound like such a good girl.
“I guess it might be considered wrong if I asked what you were wearing.” My lower lip fell open. Heat bloomed in my nether regions. “But tell me anyway,” he said. “And then take it all off.”
“Baby, you took my breath away the night we met.” Playfully, I bit her inner thigh. “Now fucking sit on my face before I lose my mind.”
“I’ll move both cars,” he said. “Where are your keys?”
I was handy too. If I was there, I could do things for her—the floors maybe, or the painting, or construct those fitting rooms. Install her computers. And a security system. I could carry heavy boxes
or lift furniture or even just keep her company. She wouldn’t need another man.
“I want to see you,” I blurted.
“I want to see you.” The words tumbled out quickly. “I have another job in New York this week. Meet me there.”
“Please, Millie. I can’t stop thinking about you. I feel like I’m losing my mind.”
“And I miss you.” “I miss you too.”
I frowned. “I’m going to run down the street to the pharmacy to get you some cold medicine.” “Zach, it’s okay. I’m fine.” “Hush.” I shrugged into my coat. “Don’t leave until I get back. That’s an order.”
“Someone might see us,” she whispered in the elevator. “I don’t care,” I said.
He wrapped me in his arms again, pulling me tighter to his broad, warm chest. “I think about you every minute of the day. I wish I could be the one, Millie Rose.” “Maybe in another life, you could have been.” Tears leaked silently from my eyes. He kissed the top of my head. When he spoke, his voice was gruff with emotion. “I’m not sure I’d have deserved you
in any life, but I sure as hell would have tried.”
“I liked the idea that someone might . . . belong to me. That there was someone I had to protect and provide for. But I didn’t want to love anyone so much I couldn’t live without them. With her, that was never a danger. But with you . . .” My heart stopped. “With me?” “With you, it is. With you, it’s been a danger all along.”
I love you too, I mouthed. But like him, I didn’t say the words aloud.
“Don’t you want to know the price?” “No,” I told her. “I don’t care about the price. I just want her to have it.” “Your wife is a very lucky woman,” she said.
“You know I can’t breathe when you wear that dress.”
“But why?” I’d started to cry. “You know why,” he whispered.
“I got it for you.” His voice was quiet but firm. “You’re my north, south, east,
and west, Millie Rose. You ground me, you guide me, you inspire me. And I’m madly in love with you.”
