When you’re being authentic, you’ll also have an awareness of your own personal shortcomings. In that sense, as much as I had wanted the captaincy, leadership was never going to be about me having absolute control. In fact, true leadership is in large part the art of releasing the urge to control. This was central to the idea of individual ownership in pursuit of our collective goals.
