"You're not either," I said, my heart beating harder. "I miss you." "Ex-fucking-scuse me?" he balked, turning to me with his eyes narrowed. I shrugged. "Just being honest." "You miss me?" he deadpanned. "I was never your friend, we're barely acquaintances. In fact, you’re just a cat who comes scratching at my window sometimes who I need to chase away."
hadn’t taken much to get me invited to join them in the end. Lorenzo had brought me to meet with some of his new friends and though they hadn’t said a lot, they’d definitely shown interest in me from the moment I arrived.
"The truth," Gabriel hissed, leaning down even closer to me so that he was all I could see, my view of that beautiful freedom snatched away as surely as my hopes and dreams would be if I stayed living in this place. Gabriel's hand tightened around my wrist so hard that I cursed as it forced me awake, trying to pull back from his bruising grip, but he wouldn't release me. "Gabriel?" I hissed in the dark, mindful of the other three guys in the room with us as I blinked the last flecks of sleep away from my eyes.
had no idea if he would help Dante or not. He'd given his word to fight against Felix and had made it clear to his gang that Felix's followers were the targets tonight, but the stars had made him and Dante Astral Adversaries. They'd been born to clash and fight over and over until the hatred in them burned too hot to resist and the whole thing ended in death.
I could have sworn I recognised the eyes that peered deep into mine like they could see every inch of my tattered soul. Like they knew me too. "I'm sorry," King breathed and with a pinch of pain in my upper arm, darkness enveloped me, and I was lost.
