There was a vast difference between rednecks, hillbillies, and trailer trash. Some of these lines could be blurred depending on how close your proximity was to the Appalachian Mountains and if you were along a ridge running east or west.
Every day we see injustices happen all around us that could be resolved by breaking a rule and we collectively do nothing. Wars rage and famines starve, children are slaughtered, and we remain silent. We fear consequences or the crosshairs moving away from the oppressed and toward us, so we let terror win and choke out our voice.
Then, when someone does stand up and say, “These rules are fucked,” we bury them in the back of the graveyard of history and then name a road after them.
A great deal of offense happens in this world because someone has violated an invisible rule we have curated for ourselves and then attempted to impose on everyone else.

If you look at the things that the far right in our country are becoming angered about, they are things that Russia has already waged war on in their own country: gay pride parades, trans rights, feminism. For a moment, it appeared America was making headway on these issues, and then suddenly a dramatic shift backward. The man whom the Kremlin selected as our new leader was pushing these ideologies. That is what brought us right to the front door of January 6th.
Patriotism and nationalism are not the same evil. If Russia is to win this battle, it will not come by way of these far-right fools hoping to align with her but because those on the left roll over and say, ‘Take our country, it is a stupid country, a bad country, we have no use for it. This can’t possibly be worse than it already is.’ This nihilism has been the devised plan of the Kremlin all along.
When we use the word intimacy, we often think of it as a sexual term, but it really just means closeness.
