He glares down at me and says in an aggravated tone, “I have yet to have coffee. Your questions can wait until I have taken my first sip. So could you—I don’t know—stop talking?” He stresses the last two words. “Wait, there’s coff—” His glare intensifies, and I snap my mouth shut. For now.
The only thing giving away that she is wearing make-up at all is her green and gold eyeshadow. No. It isn’t eyeshadow. It is art. She is art. Is this love at first sight?
I cross my arms and let out a huff. “I don’t know anyone here and I like to talk. I would appreciate it if you could try to hold a decent conversation.”
He sighs and crosses his arms. “I don’t know what to feel. I’ve lost all control over my existence. My future is literally in your hands,” he admits. I look at my hands then wiggle my fingers teasingly at him. “They are fantastic hands though.” His lip twitches a little bit. “They are alright.”
She shrugs. “We can be sister wives.” We both laugh as the waitress arrives with our drinks.
What was I thinking when I did what I did? I look at the group and admit, “I know, I know. I shouldn’t have stolen the three bottles of champagne from the staff kitchen, but it was an emergency. The bottle of champagne in my apartment broke and I—” She shakes her head and cuts me off. “Girl, I don’t care about the champagne. We need your help.” I let out the breath I was holding and laugh. “Whew. For a second there I thought I was a goner.” Aiden shakes his head. “We talked about this, Joyce.
