Watching his retreating form was like watching the shoreline disappear as I drifted out to sea. I wanted to call him back and make him stay so I didn’t lose that feeling of breathlessness he had created. But I knew that yearning was reckless and counterproductive to everything I’d worked toward—like bingeing an entire pizza after a week of clean eating—only so much more catastrophic. Someone like Keir Byrne would decimate the landscape of my life. Why was I even thinking about him?
Something about what I’d said struck a nerve. Keir’s vibrant blue eyes darkened until they were as fathomless as the deepest parts of the ocean. He walked me backward, trapping me between his enormous body and the wall, his face suddenly inches from mine.
His body blocked my escape, the same way his overwhelming presence eclipsed all thought of anything else. All I could see or feel or think of was Keir. Then his lips were on mine, his hands gripping me tightly to him. I met his kiss with an intensity that rivaled his own. We were two magnets unable to resist one another.
“Show me this body is mine.” A scream tore past my lips. My body ignited, every cell filling with radiant light. “That’s my girl. My wife. You’re mine, Rowan Byrne. All. Fucking. Mine.”
This world was drawn in shades of gray. All I could do was look at my priorities and decide how dark I was willing to go.
Yes, it was reckless. Yes, I was putting my life in danger. And yes, I hated when women in stories did stupid shit like that, but I did it anyway.
Being with Keir felt like coming home, and I never wanted to leave.
“My love for you, little lamb, is endless. I love you so goddamn much it hurts.” I thrust upward while holding her in place, sheathing my cock deep inside her.
My wife. My love. My life.
