If anything could rile up the normally composed Christian, it was the mention, however indirect, of a certain tenant in his building.

Then a groan shattered the spell, followed by a low curse. That was the only warning I got before Dante yanked me to him and crashed his mouth down on mine.
“Business would be completing my D.C. trip instead of waking my pilot up for a last-minute flight home. In all my years as CEO, I’ve only cut a work trip short twice, Vivian, and both those instances were because of you.” A wry twist of his lips. “So no, it’s not just fucking business anymore.”
“You can’t see the stars in New York,” Dante said. “So I brought the stars to you.”
“Nice way to spin it. Are you sure it’s not because you have separation anxiety?” I teased. “I didn’t use to.” His eyes held mine like a lone flame flickering on a cold winter night. “But I’m beginning to think I might.”
