I would go to war for her.
“Kn-ight in shin-ing armo-r.”
She had become a priority for me,
“Not here. You have your own.” “I don’t want my own.” And I didn’t. I needed to be close to her. I’d almost lost her. Couldn’t she see that?
and when I held Dianna, I felt it. It was a feeling I had spent centuries searching for.
I had almost lost her.
“You came for me,” she said, looking up at me through her thick lashes.
“You saved me even when you didn’t have to. You had the information you needed and could have left me to go find the book, but you came for me.”
“I’d never abandon you.”
she cupped my face in both hands. I lowered my forehead to hers, and my eyes closed as I savored the feeling. Dianna’s cinnamon scent engulfed me, seeping into my every pore. Her breath mingled with my own as my nose grazed hers. I was suddenly aware of how perfectly her body fit against mine, and how it would be the death of me.
“Hey, look at me. You would have to be an ignorant fool not to think you are anything but extraordinary, Dianna.”
“Then fix it,”
Our mouths came together with enough force to rattle the heavens above. I could not have explained it even if the gods themselves gave me a century to do so.
There were no words to describe how Dianna’s lips felt against mine, but with that first kiss, my gravity shifted. I may not have the words to do justice to her or what I was feeling, but I knew if she would let me, I would happily spend a millennium trying.
With the right person, a kiss was so much more than a kiss. It was pure, unfiltered ecstasy. A part of my soul had been waiting for this woman, and one kiss from her had undone me. A voice I couldn’t ignore quietly insisted that she was what I had been missing.
It’s her. It’s her. It’s her.
I knew I would move planets to hear that sound over and over again.
The smile she gave me was the first real one I had seen in weeks.
I couldn’t have kept the smile from my face even if I’d wanted to. I never could with her.
“You have the most phenomenal ass.”
“I am almost ashamed to admit how many times I have looked at it, fantasized about it.”
So, that’s what my Dianna liked.
“Because I could not lie there, close to you, and not wish to be inside you.”
“Is this all for me, Dianna?”
There would be no pain. I would make sure of it. She had endured enough.
“Ride my fingers like you’ll ride my cock when I take you beneath the stars.”
It was addicting to watch her pleasure and know it was only for me.
“I’ll never admit to how amazing that was,” she panted. “Your ego is already large enough.”
my Dianna?”
my Dianna.”
My Dianna.
“That’s it, baby. You’re so fucking beautiful.
Please, baby, please.”
I liked this Liam. Actually, that was a lie; I liked all versions of him, even the grumpy ones, even if I wasn’t supposed to.
my primal need to have him, truly have him.
Was he always this attractive? A hunger stirred in me once more, and it had nothing to do with the breakfast in front of me.
A foreign sense of contentment filled me—and it terrified me more than anything I had faced. Liam could destroy me.
“I would never even suggest such a thing. I appreciate you. Truly.”
No one ever appreciated me.
A heated look crossed his devilish features. At this point, I was convinced he just liked the fact that I touched him.
“Nothing will happen to you.” His smile dropped as the icy rage snuck back into his eyes. “Not again.”
Samkiel, the feared king, had come for me, a literal knight in shining armor.
Your tell is that somber silence that takes you away from me. The one that shuts me out.”
“If we weren’t so preoccupied with finding this book, I would show you in seven different ways how much it does not affect how I feel about you.”
You seem to think I am this pure, good being, when the old gods taught me how to end worlds.” “You are to me.”
“Dianna being nice. Have you grown ill?” “Shut up. I am always a delight,”
I wouldn’t push, wouldn’t ask for more than he wanted to give.
“Hey, I can do a little role-play, if that’s what you want.”
I moved quickly, prying her off of him and forcing her to take a step back.
“It is fine. Dianna is just…” He paused. “Protective.”
