He was handsome in that bad boy kind of way. His beard was perfectly trimmed and neat. The tattoos that graced the back of his left hand and arm were etched with beautiful precision against his dark complexion. They disappeared beneath the rolled-up sleeve of his shirt and made him look even sexier and more dangerous. My eyes caught on the thick silver rings that decorated a few of his fingers.
“World Ender.” Liam’s gaze did not waver from mine. “You know me, and yet you still attacked the embassy. Why fight?” I shrugged. “Call it a personality flaw.”
“This. Seriously, what are you going to do? Torture me? I thought you were the special chosen one who believed in peace and all things good in the world. Or, wait—are you going to hit me? Slap me around a little? If you do it hard enough, I might like it.”
“Is that your idea of torture? This is just a Saturday night for me, baby. You’re going to have to do better than that.”
My gaze stayed fixed on him. “Go fuck yourself.” Confusion flickered in his expression. I rolled my eyes and snapped at Logan, “Translate that for him.”
“You would fight a god?” “No,” I said without hesitation, “I’d kill one.”
“Bloodthirsty Dianna is always my favorite.”
Liam said that if you try to escape or do anything that could endanger the team or me, I have permission to make you a footnote in history.” I forced a fake pout on my lips, the effort painful. “Aww, do you always do what Daddy says?”
“So, if the big guy wants me alive, I’m assuming it’s not to ask me out on a date?” “If by ‘date,’ you mean keep you alive by any means necessary, since you are the only lead we have, then yes, a date. At this point, I’m sure he is ready to force-feed you.” “I’m wet just thinking about it.”
have lived for several millennia,” his deep voice echoed from the back of the crowd, “and surprising me is hard to do. But you continue to surprise me.” “Hello, lover. I missed you, too,” I purred.
“You really are a cocky, arrogant son of a bitch, aren’t you? That strong, and yet your world still fell?”
“You can draw?” They all just stared at me. “Okay, not the point. Tough crowd.”
“Such a gentleman. I see why women fall at your feet.” His nostrils flared, his jaw set in a hard line. “Must you make quips every second you breathe?” I smiled, knowing I’d finally gotten under his skin. “Why do they bother you?” “You are absolutely tormenting. You realize that, correct?” “I love it when you flirt with me.” I winked,
“Just don’t destroy this place, or electrocute anyone, or disintegrate the rides, or—” “Dianna.” “Sorry.”
“What? Are you not having fun? I thought you liked the cool shooting game and the bumper cars.” His lip curled in disgust as we continued to walk. “The small cars are violent, and they let small children drive. Do they not care for the small ones?
Her eyes held no humor as she turned and stared at me, her vibrant light snuffed out. She was silently pleading, desperately begging me to keep her sister safe. I decided then and there that this woman should never beg.
I didn’t remember how long we talked, but somewhere amidst her laughter and smiles, I decided I would rip the world apart for her.
“You already consume my every waking thought. Must you consume my dreams as well?”
Don’t be the one to make her fall if you have no intention of catching her.”
Kaden’s pathetic whore.” I turned toward him and spat in his face. He reeled back, using his sleeve to wipe away the spittle. “I love how men like you throw those words around like it’s supposed to hurt, to mean something. Yet you’re the same man who cried when he couldn’t get his dick sucked.”
She had seduced me. More than that, she owned me—and she didn’t even know it.
“What are you doing?” “You told me to go to bed, so that’s what I am doing.” “Not here. You have your own.” “I don’t want my own.”
Her kiss was light, tantalizing—and everything I never knew I had been missing. She pulled back and looked up at me, her fingers tracing the line of my jaw. A slow, mischievous smile curved her lips. “You still have witch breath.” Something snapped in me, and I was afraid it was my self-control. Desire coiled and burned in me, and I let it. “Then fix it,”
I changed my mind. Dianna’s laugh was my second favorite sound.
“Because I could not lie there, close to you, and not wish to be inside you.”
“I would love to see anyone try.” I turned, staring at Geraldo. “Now, that’s a threat.”
