“There is only one bed.” “Great, you’re observant. I’m so proud. Now come here.”
That earned me a real smile. Dianna looked down at our joined hands. “I promise not to tell.” Her thumb traced over the back of mine. “You’re sweet when you’re homicidal.” “I don’t know what that means.”
I cautiously relaxed my grip on her wrists, releasing her hands. She took a step forward and spun, her fist shooting out too fast for me to deflect. I heard the crack both inside my head and echoing in the room as blistering pain shot through my nose and across my face. I reached up, cupping it with a single hand. “What was that for?” I asked, squinting at her blurry image. “For being a dick these last two weeks.” She shrugged. “I feel better now.”
Dianna, you are already dangerous. Now let’s make you lethal.”
Something shifted in her hazel eyes when they met mine. It was small, but world-shattering. Her lips slanted over mine, and for the first time in my entire existence, I froze. Her kiss was light, tantalizing—and everything I never knew I had been missing.
“That’s eight ways now, because when we leave here, I’m going to fuck the word friend out of your vocabulary.”
“Does this make us actual enemies now?”
