Raven Bennett.
“Good girl.
“My name is Raven. Not love.”
“Words, Rae.”
“He’s not going to break my heart because it’s not his to break.”
Bennett.
Charles Cavendish.
Raven Bennett
“It’s Raven,”
“I’m pretty sure your hands were on my rear, and your tongue was shoved down my throat. I’ll call you Charles.”
my Rae.
“Don’t look at me like that, Raven. It won’t end well for you, sunshine.”
"That’s right, Rae. My Rae of fucking sunshine. Say it again. Say my fucking name again.”
“Let me be perfectly clear, sir,” I spit. “I earned every single one of those recommendations through hard work and grit. And I won’t allow some male chauvinist, arrogant asshole, who’s the product of familial nepotism, to belittle my hard work. And if those words are too big for your drunk ass tonight, I’ll be happy to say them to you again in the morning.”
“No, thank you, Mr. Cavendish.”
“I’m not interested in taking a position because you are atoning for your actions, sir. When I get this account, even if it’s just a temporary gig, it will be because I’ve earned it.”
have time, and if you want me on this account, I suggest you start talking.”
“Sir.”
“It’s forced,”
“I’m only looking at you, Raven. You look lovely.”
She nods, walking right past me and completely ignoring my attempt at chivalry.
“Talent. Now get in here.”
“We agreed nothing could happen at the office. We never said anything about away from work.”
“Well, Mr. Cavendish, if you want to break the rules, you should kiss me now.”
“Sitting next to you tonight, I had to let you know that you truly are my Rae of sunshine,”
“Words, Rae.”
“I don’t want to hear any of your fucking excuses.”
“You haunted me all night.”
“Tell me you want this as much as I do, love.”
“This time I’m not pulling back.”
“Please, don’t stop this time,”
“No way in hell.”
“Horrible idea, but I don’t fucking care. Do you?”
“Take off your clothes.”
“We’re more than all right, love.”
“We’re exceptional.”
I’m not promising you a happily ever after. I really wouldn’t mind stopping the one-time-only rule for a bit with you.”
“I think we’re well past formalities, love. Unless, of course, you insist I woo you first.”
“Because, dear Rae, you are my ray of sunshine.”
“Raven, you are delicious,”
“I want you. Now,”
“That was some kiss, love,”
“I’m not going to stop. I like sending you flowers.”
“What do I need to do, love? Tell me, and it’s yours.”
“Anything you want, love. But you’re my favorite dessert.”
“Yes, but I want you, Raven.”
“Nobody’s going to hear you, love. Let go.”
“You shine all on your own, Raven.”
“I’m falling for you, Raven Bennett. Against all my rules, you’ve broken down the walls I thought were fortified.”
“I believe you could be the woman who brings me to my knees. I could love you one day, Raven. Hopelessly.”
