Miller eventually moved back to England in 1946, settling at Farley’s Farm in Sussex – which was no doubt an abrupt shift from her active, dramatic life. She attempted to adjust to normality, but struggled. Suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, Miller channelled her great energy into becoming a chef, the only profession her son, Antony (born 1947), thought his mother had had.
