The 1990s are often viewed to be flanked by two major political events: the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, and the September 11 attacks on New York City in 2001. Within that space of time the world felt the effects of globalisation, with increased travel, mass communication and new economic structures, but also experienced political, cultural and economic shifts that transmuted art.
