Not only is this a joyful and vivid translation, but it’s, literally, quite the journey . . .   Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi, translated by Geoffrey Trousselot, is set in a coffee shop in Tokyo, where it’s possible to go back in time. I read it before the pandemic began and I can’t stop thinking about it.
