used to work in a data center, a long time ago, and one thing I learned there is that there’s no such thing as a temporary solution. If someone ran a cable from one rack to another without neatly cabling and labeling it, it would stay there until the server was decommissioned. The same is true for every temporary hack: if you don’t have it in good shape by the end of the project, it’s going to take extraordinary effort to clean it up later.
