Ros instinctively moved to stand in front of Ellea. I really need to stop saying his name out loud. Ellea peeked around his bicep and scowled at him. “I would like to remind you that I took care of myself last time he was here.” She took a step to stand next to Ros.

Her eyes darkened as she stuck her tongue out at him with a fuck you, do your worst look written on her face. Then she kicked his feet out from under him and turned to run up the stairs. He landed with a thud on his ass and a growl escaped him.
“And when is her birthday?” Ros was so angry that all of his worry about the mission was gone. “Samhain.” Sam’s smile grew. “That’s in two weeks.” Anxiety quickly washed away the anger. He was most definitely getting emotional whiplash. “Why did you wait to tell me?” “To see this look on your face.”
