I don’t need to ask if she’s sure about this, I don’t need to tell her what to do. I’ve raised a daughter who’s determined, strong and capable. And this is her showing me that.
There’s nothing worse than seeing a child fear for their life.
I watch them now and weakly smile. Playing, jumping in the pool, squealing, enjoying freedom. They’ll get through this, just the way Jack and I planned. With continued therapy and loving care.
And no matter where we end up, what we’ve been through together means we’re tied now.
But for now, we’re welcome to enjoy what we’ve built without sadness.
