Unity in knowing is possible only because it is unity in being.
The Gospel of John places particular emphasis on the fact that Jesus unites his own will totally with the Father’s will.
There we saw that Jesus is wholly “relational,” that his whole being is nothing other than relation to the Father.
In the end, man needs just one thing, in which everything else is included; but he must first delve beyond his superficial wishes and longings in order to learn to recognize what it is that he truly needs and truly wants.
