“Now is all anyone ever has,”
“But if you play your cards right tonight, I might just let you kiss me.”
“You’re the boy who cried love.”
“Now you’ve gotta stay. My whole family just fell in love with you.”
He didn’t ask her what broke her or if those shards ever cut her from holding them too tightly. He didn’t tell her to go easy on herself or agree or disagree. Instead, he very deliberately cupped her chin in his hands and kissed her softly, steadily.
“Now, let’s get back to the ‘you not being my business’ thing. I don’t know how many guys you’ve kissed like you kissed me, but to me, it means something.”
Maybe that was part of what didn’t work. Neither one of us cared enough to fight.”
But I want to be the one you call, Maggie.”
“It means we see where this goes.” “It can’t go far,”
“I’m not staying.” “My nice crisp five dollars says otherwise,”
They were made for each other.
Was there a woman out there who could face Silas Wright’s charm and walk away unscathed?
“Honey, no one will judge you if you take him out back and take his pants off.”
“Dance with me, Mags.”
“Darlin’, if you keep looking at me like that, I might not be able to hang on to my civility,”
He was dizzy with her. Obsessed with her every reaction to his touch.
“You stole my oxygen,”
He could love her, he realized on the spot.
She felt like magic in his arms.
Maggie Nichols was begging him for more.
She’d be the death of him, but he’d guessed that the first time he laid eyes on her.
“I love touching you, Maggie,”
“I know I’m going to love fucking you.”
“I’m so fucking glad you wore the red ones. I’ve had dreams of these since I saw you in them that first day.”
“Baby, you ain’t seen nothing yet,”
Finally. She was his.
Her body went loose under him, as if she were surrendering to him. And that, he realized, was what he wanted most from her.
“But I want more.”
“You’ll have it. I’ll give you more until you can’t take it. Now let yourself go.”
His eyes were closed, and there was a sleepy, smug smile playing at his mouth.
“Baby, you surpassed it. My filthy fantasies have nothing on the real thing.”
“Darlin’, I don’t know what goes on in that busy mind of yours, but there is no way on this green earth that you could be thinking that was anything but the best sex either of us has ever had.”
“That’s my girl,”
“And I think you needing me to take charge was something I very desperately wanted.”
“Now, I’m not saying I’d hold you captive, Mags. But I think you’re making excuses and trying not to get attached. Which doesn’t work for me, seein’ as how I’m inclined to make you get attached.”
“Because I want to wake up with you in my bed. I want to be there when your eyes open. I want the first smile of your day to belong to me. I want to start my day touching you.”
“Anything you want, Mags. You can have it all.”
“You’re really gorgeous,”
“It was a really good day, Mags.”
Instead of answering her, he pressed her up against the wall next to a meticulously organized corkboard of yard implements and kissed the ever-living hell out of her.
“So whatever you are to our son, you’re someone special to us.”
“I’m flattered, but the only attention I want is yours.”
“Just because people are talking doesn’t mean their opinions matter,”
“Well, before this episode goes live, consider me your first fan.”
“I might not be your first, Mags. But I am...

“It’s a good thing you’re not embarrassed by attention,”
“As long as I’ve got yours, Mags.”
The woman was underestimating the hell out of him if she thought he was just going to let her wall herself off. He wasn’t going to make it easy to walk away.
“Let’s go sweep our girl off her feet,”
“You sure make me want to kiss you when you’re hell-bent on being responsible.”
