His light eyes are burning and his nostrils are flared. He’s slightly taller than the prick squeezing my arm, probably 6’2”, and his blonde hair blows slightly in the wind, the hair on top of his head longer than on the sides.
“Just because I’m going to defend the law doesn't mean I always agree with it. I also can separate a person's character from their lawful, or unlawful, actions.”
Callum is a work of art in the daylight, with his sharp jaw and scruff on his cheeks, but in the low light, he looks like a fallen angel, his features shadowed and making everything look like he was cut from marble.
“You look good down on your knees.” He laughs and slides a finger inside of me and I jolt with excitement. “Don't get used to it, Red.”
“Ride me like you own me, Red.”
I know I can trust Callum, not just with my safety but maybe my heart as well.
“The truth is far worse than the rumors,” he whispers. “But I will always keep you safe.”
I tear the door open and stare into the eyes of the most handsome man I've ever met; my friend, my protector, the only person I want to chase away my fear.
“I want to know every part of you, even the darkest, most painful parts of your being.”
“I will happily spend the rest of my life making up for that asshole's mistakes and making sure you love your life again. I will never betray your trust, Red.”
“When I first saw you at Mickey’s, I couldn’t think of anything except for how the room seemed to stand still and you turned my world upside down. You made me trust, and believe, and hope for the first time in months, and you can’t just leave me before we’ve even got to begin.”
“Your eyes hold the universe in them and you have no idea of the spell you put me under every time you look at me.
“There she is.”
“Call her a bitch again and I'll cut your tongue out.” Saint’s face breaks into the biggest shit eating grin. “Good to know you're still in there somewhere.”
“I’d never seen such peace or beauty in a person until I saw you look out over those mountains. You changed me. I never thought I would open myself up to anyone again except for my brothers, but you came along and you changed everything for me. So for better or worse. With or without you. I wanted to remember the way you looked out over the mountains and a reminder that there's real beauty and peace in this world.”
“Be selfish, Reese. I am. I’m choosing to love you over anything else because you are the most important thing in my life. I love you no matter what it does to me, Red. I love you whether you hate me or it gets me killed. I would bleed out on the floor for you and it still wouldn’t be enough, so stop fighting it and tell me you love me too.”
“You have my fucking heart, Red, always have, and if you leave with it again you’re gonna kill me.”
“I want to marry you, Reese Thomas. I want to marry you in front of our friends and family. I want you on the back of my bike, burning my meals, carrying my kids for the rest of my life. I want you forever, as my best friend, my Old Lady, my wife, and eventually the mother of my children.” I don't know when the tears started, but I finally noticed them falling when he finished. “It feels like I've loved you for my entire life, and I'll love you long after it ends.
