“She’s not your darling,” Malachi’s voice boomed as he waltzed into the room. It only took him two strides to cross the room and stand next to me, so close that his bare shoulder brushed against mine. He was in the same clothes he had been wearing on our journey here, only now, they were ripped and blood-stained. “And I suggest you watch the way you speak to my wife.”
“Saints, Jade,” he mumbled, rushing to my side and kneeling next to me. He placed a large hand on my back, a simple gesture that sent a shiver down my spine, even in the heat of day. “Are you alright?”
“You’re mine, princess,” he spoke into my lips. “Whether you like it or not.” Malachi slammed his mouth into mine. The kiss wasn’t gentle or exploring. It was rough and needy. He kissed me like I was the only thing keeping him alive, like I was his only hope at survival. And I kissed him back.
“You touched my wife,” Malachi growled. “You should be happy that you still have your hands. And I’m not your man.”
“If you want me to kiss you in front of all these people, princess, you’ll have to ask me nicely.”
“Anything you desire will be yours, dear wife,” he whispered, and before I could take another breath, his mouth crashed into mine.
“Then I will rip this world apart until I can place you in the sky myself, princess.”
“You’re my wife, Jade. My wife. That doesn’t change for me. If you wish to go back home and live with your family, I won’t stop you. But you are the Princess of Rewyth. If you wish to come with me to rule, I swear I’ll make you the happiest woman in the Kingdom.”
“I love you, Jade Weyland. I would burn down any kingdom for you. I hope you know that. After everything, I am yours. I will always be yours.”
