No one reconsiders their life choices until it’s too late and the consequences are staring back at them with taunting smiles.
“I am a man who dreams of you, even if you don’t dream of me, and when you forget me and move on with your life, I will dream of you still.”
“Lauren,” he called out as she closed the door behind her. The door swung back open, and she poked her head in. “Yeah?” “Record her laughing for me.”
“I know it is hard, but I learned that the ones we have lost are not the only people in our lives. A part of you will always be buried under the grief, but the rest of you belongs with those still here. Do not rob yourself of that joy.”
“It’s strange,” she murmured. “To have no memory of someone you love.”
His breath caught in his throat. “How do you know you love me?” She brought her hand to her chest, pressing lightly. “Here. I know it as well as I know my name. I may not remember falling, but my heart remembers loving you.”
Her face fell slightly. What would Caius think? She ignored herself. He could fuck off if he didn’t like it.
“I am yours, Aurora Raven. Every part of me belongs to you. Another woman couldn’t hold my attention if they tried.”
“You already hold my heart in your hands, Aurora Raven. One day you’ll believe me, whether you remember me or not.”
“I have bathed in the blood of your enemies. What makes you think I would not paint myself with yours?”
