When Mary prayed with staggering faith, “I am the Lord’s servant. May your word to me be fulfilled,” she was transforming her everyday tasks—doctor visits, proper nutrition, and three trimesters of discomfort—into a participation in God’s redemption. She was cooperating with God’s activity in the world and within her. The result was divine blessing: “From now on all generations will call me blessed.”
