“It likely won’t. But it doesn’t matter. Because as long as I have you and you have me, we can face anything, yeah?” “Like Batman and Robin,” she said with a smile. “Or Wonder Woman and her lasso.” “Oh, dibs being the lasso.” She put her thumb on her forehead. He had to chuckle. “So, I’m Wonder Woman?” “Well, you’ve got the ass for that outfit.” Throwing his head back, he laughed. “Good to know, baby.”
“You’ve had a scrumptious slow cooker hot chocolate recipe all this time and never made it for me? I’m disappointed in you, Brody-bear.” “It’s only for special occasions.” “I don’t know, Brody-bear. Every day is a special occasion. Life is short. We should drink hot chocolate and eat cake for breakfast and cookies for lunch.”
“I’m going to get you some food,” the Fox said. “I feel this strange need to feed you both. Like you’re a pet goldfish. Had a goldfish once, killed it after a day. By accident, though.” He was muttering to himself as he left the room. Great. They were with a guy who killed a goldfish after one day. That didn’t fill him with hope.
Brody was staring at them, wide-eyed. “Are you getting off on her saying that she’d murder anyone who touched you?” “Us. Anyone who would touch either of us,” the Fox replied. “You’re included in this jealousy-inspired murderfest.”
“I feel like I should say I want to go slow. But at the same time I feel like the last thing I want is to keep waiting.” “Oh, but I’m very good at taking it slow,” he replied. “She’s not talking about you edging her, Fox,” Brody told him. “That’s just torture.” “Torture is kind of my thing.”
Love? Huh. Love. He liked that they loved him. But did he love them back? How did one know? He was obsessed with them. Would kill for them. Couldn’t live without them. Was that love? Perhaps it was.
“Damn, this has more twists than a fake-death plot on a soap opera,” he stated.
