She wanted to run to him and soothe the line that had formed between his brows with her thumb, to tell him that it was okay, that he could cry and let go, be sad. That she would be there to catch him, this time. And as if on cue, she watched as tears slid down his cheeks. It took real effort for Avery to keep her feet planted where they were. Every part of her was itching to get to him. She hadn't realized she was crying too until her own tears fell on her arms, which were clasped tightly under her chest.
