I was Alice tumbling down a rabbit hole, suddenly living the wildest science-fiction/fantasy epic imaginable.
Because there is no multiverse. The theory is an interesting one, and creates endless possibilities in the fictional realm, but it isn’t accurate. “The Earth-like worlds I’ve spoken about are all in this Universe—the one and only. All are populated by human beings, yes, but not the same ones by any means.
“Because in your political system, neither brilliance, nor even basic competence, seem to be prerequisites for getting elected to an office. Instead, the skills required seem to be popularity, and an ability to lie shamelessly with every breath, make false promises, and trash your opponents.”

Would we rather be jacked into an artificial Utopia, for example, with no real free will? Or would we prefer to struggle in a world that was real?
