Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah said, ‘The Messenger of Allah stood until his feet were swollen. The people said, “Messenger of Allah, Allah has forgiven you your future and past wrong actions!” So he replied, “Should I not then be a grateful slave?”’ (Bukhārī 4836).
