Budayl said, ‘Whoever recognises his lord loves Him. Whoever recognises this world renounces it. The believer does not amuse himself to the point of heedlessness. If he reflects, he becomes sad.’ (Abū Nuʿaym in Ḥilyah 3:108 and Ibn Abī Shaybah 35673).
