Softening The Heart: Kitāb az-Zuhd wa’r-Raqāʾiq

ʿArfajah narrated that Abū Bakr aṣ-Ṣiddīq said, ‘Anyone who is able to weep should weep. If you cannot, then you should pretend to weep.’ (Bayhaqī in Shuʿab 785).
