I mean no harm to Reia – his female. Opening his bone jaw to part his upper and lower fangs, he let out a louder sigh than normal. She is nice. I want a human like her. Perhaps one that didn’t smell like sticks and thorns, but a human nonetheless. He wanted a human to touch. He didn’t quite understand the difference between a male or a female. He just wanted a friend. A friend.
“You are awake.” The voice was such a deep baritone, so heavy and laden with velvet smoothness that it sang through her body like a quiet drum. It was so pleasant she almost wanted to close her eyes in satisfaction at being allowed to hear such a beautiful voice. Definitely an angel.
Delora couldn’t remember the last time she’d been held like this. It was tender and so protective that it made her feel small and in need of protecting.
“Will... you give me a name?” He wouldn’t be selfish and ask for two. One name would make him happy.
“I don’t want to be alive anymore,” she whispered. “But I also don’t want to die.”
“If you do not want to be responsible for your life, then give me your soul.” He would protect it, nurture it, and keep it safe for her if she did not want to. He would make it his, and then he would make her his.
