“Are you telling me,” she said, lowering her voice so that the group of curious Ravenclaws behind them could not hear, “that after the warning I gave you last Monday you lost your temper in Professor Umbridge’s class again?” “Yes,” Harry muttered, speaking to the floor. “Potter, you must get a grip on yourself! You are heading for serious trouble! Another five points from Gryffindor!”
“But you were unsuccessful?” Snape’s lip curled. “Obviously.”
“How come you’re not in Ravenclaw?” he demanded, staring at Hermione with something close to wonder. “With brains like yours?” “Well, the Sorting Hat did seriously consider putting me in Ravenclaw during my Sorting,” said Hermione brightly, “but it decided on Gryffindor in the end. So does that mean we’re using the Galleons?”
“Ron,” said Hermione in a dignified voice, dipping the point of her quill into her ink pot, “you are the most insensitive wart I have ever had the misfortune to meet.”
“Not really,” said Hermione indifferently, who was reading the Daily Prophet. “I’ve never really liked horses.”
