Yeavering in Northumberland. Only discovered in 1949 when a particularly harsh summer had scorched the fields and revealed the outlines of an early medieval complex, it is most likely the site of Ad Geferin, the royal palace where Bede describes Paulinus preaching and baptising in AD 627.
