“Love her, Eliné. Love her in the way I wish to and cannot, but make sure she is prepared to fulfill her destiny.”
Tybalt Greybane. The Commander of Avonleya’s forces, the son of Sargon, and Cassius’s father.
“Mai dragocen.”
“I saved your ass from a Witch, didn’t I? I believe I even killed more seraphs than you did that day.”
“You were born for this, Seastar. You are constantly fighting your destiny, but I think you are exactly where you need to be. I think the Fates may have been on your side all along.”
“I promised him I would keep you safe,” Sawyer answered. “Let me keep that promise.” He lifted a hand, his palm resting on her stomach. “Let me do this one last thing for the people I love most in this world.”
“Meet me on the battlefield,” he said softly, echoing words she’d said to him weeks ago.
She’d hugged Eliza tightly before they’d left, once again demanding chocolates and wine when they were done saving the world. No twin flames invited.
Gods. She could watch him like that all damn day. Fire and blood and— Right. Cethin. Nuri. Death to bestow.
“The winds whispered of victory,” she lilted, gaze sweeping the room. Then her sky-blue eyes met Scarlett’s. “And they spoke of power being reborn.”
“Let’s go. I have a throne to take. If you plan to keep your position once I do, you damn well better show me I can trust you as my first line of defense.”
“If she sits on that throne, and you let someone in who hurts her, she will be the least of your worries. Shoulders back, chin up. Draw a weapon. Look her in the eye when you demand—not ask—what her business is here.”
The sound of frantic footfalls had them both turning to the Great Hall entrance where a number of warriors stopped short, looking from her to a very naked Razik to Bastien’s headless body.
“And for the love of Anala, someone find my twin flame some godsdamn clothes.” Razik smirked at the very public statement of claiming, and she jabbed a finger at him. “Don’t say a godsdamn word.”
Violent, observant, a liar, and possessive. I swear to Anala, Razik.
“I’ll meet you on a battlefield beyond the Veil, Az.”
“I love you, Az.” It was the first time she’d said those words to him. She wished that wasn’t the case. She wished he’d heard them from her so many times, he could never doubt the truth behind them.
“Princess of Wind. Fae Queen of the Courts,” Gehenna sang, fingers clinking against the bars once more. Then she stopped. “Temptress of the Fates and Breaker of Canons.”
“I love you, Callan. You are a king worthy of your crown. I would have followed you to the ends of the realm and beyond.”
I am saying is that there were hundreds of people there and no one saw you catch it? Seems a little far-fetched, Scarlett.” He picked up a cheese cube from his plate, tossing it into his mouth.
“The witnesses are dead, Cyrus,” she snapped. “Would you like to join them? Then you can ask them yourself.”
