Palyn’s eyes danced, basking in her smile. “And how is it supposed to work?” “I am supposed to look at you and pretend Hatch isn’t here.” “I like that idea.” And so it continued. Hatch tried to disengage his turbulent emotions and translate by rote. It was painful. It was an awkward situation to be in, regardless of one’s feelings. He interpreted as she explained her weak eyesight and as she exclaimed over the new piglets. He interpreted as Palyn complimented Bashalis’ musical ability and expressed an interest in getting to know her better.
