I’ve written in the past that complexity is the worst enemy of security—and it’s also true for systems like the tax code, financial regulations, and artificial intelligence. Human systems constrained by more flexible social norms and rules are more vulnerable to hacking, because they leave themselves more open to interpretation and therefore have more loopholes.
