“I love you.”
I love you too.”
Murder me with your dick, please, sir.
“Let’s go, Red. You’re with me today.”
“Wasn’t trying to, Red. Don’t want to if I’m being honest.”
Willa: Sum, I’ve saved so many I might as well open a rescue. Summer: Good lord. Willa: Would it be legal for me to have Cade write me a charitable donation receipt to offset my taxes? Summer: I think he’s fucked you stupid, bestie.
“You don’t need to apologize, Red. I haven’t exactly sent clear signals with you.”
Because I want something to work.
But whatever it is, it’s important to me. You’re important to me.”
I feel grounded out here.
“Good. But, Red, I don’t think I told you to stop playing with those tits.”
I might not be a high achiever, but you can count on me to be there if you need to bury a body in the middle of the night.
“Don’t give me that look, Red.
Actually, I think I’m falling for you! Hehehe.
“And I liked it. No. I loved it.”
“You wanted everyone to know that mouth is mine, Red?”
“I like to watch you, Red.”
“Like you’re mine,” he growls. Those words. My body aches for more. I want him to be mine too. “Yeah? You like this look on me?”
“Good thing, Red.”
Cade: So did every other guy in town. Talia: Fuck you.
Luke beamed.
I’m trying hard not to scare the shit out of her by being so sure about everything. But the fact of the matter is, I am sure.
I told Rhett once that I loved her because she was good for him but hated that she was smarter than me.
“I don’t think you’ll be able to scare Willa away,”
It’s a ridiculous thing to say to a child you see once a year and walked away from without a goodbye.
I hear Rhett snort. Loud. Loud enough that she turns a venomous glare at him.
should have made things official already. I’m kicking myself now.
She’s a comfort to him, where this other woman who lives a little over an hour away can’t bother to visit him more than once a year.
I’ve endured it with a level of politeness I’m extending to her only because she birthed one of my favorite people in the world.
because my patience is wearing thin, and my personality only allows me to keep my mouth shut for so long.
“You’re so vicious, Red,”
“Yes, I’m jealous. She’s had everything with you and I’m just the fucking nanny.”
“Do you know what I care about though?” His fingers bite into my skin. “You, Willa. I care about you. You have nothing—and I mean nothing—to be jealous of.”
“I love Luke. You love Luke. And the three of us feel right together.
At the end of this summer, you’ll leave, but you’ll be back. Because there’s no way in hell that this ends here. I won’t allow it. We’re going to figure this out. You got me?”
“There are no buts about it, Red. Now get your palms flat on the counter and bend over.”
“What are you looking for, baby? You think I’d stop just because someone walked in?”
I nod again because it’s all I can do. I want all that. With him.
“Good. Because I’m sick of holding back with you. You’re not going anywhere. You belong here, with me.”
“You’re going to spend as much time as you want at our house,”
“Uh oh. Have you got baby rabies, Willa?”
“The two of you. All mushy and in love. It’s so weird.”
needed something familiar. Someone familiar, someone logical, and utterly responsible. Instead, Summer has sat here and enabled all the crazy shit floating in my head.
“I think you won the birthday party with that gift, Red.”
He’s fucking lickable. Too good to leave behind, that’s for sure.
“Yesterday you were all Me Cade. You woman. Stay here. Eat pussy every day,”
For once, I feel settled. Like everything in my life is where it’s meant to be.
She’s standing beside Violet but has her full attention on Jasper, like she has since she was a kid. And he’s fucking clueless, like he has been since he was a kid.
It’s not the way I’d be smiling if I were set to marry Willa in a few short months.
I find her easily, standing there smiling, wearing skin-tight jeans and holding our boy’s hand. And fuck, it looks good.
