She gave birth to her son, Jonathan, in 2002. Less than a week later, she and Gail delivered him to his new family. “We sat on the floor and sobbed and sobbed and sobbed,” Gail told me. “That was the most painful thing I have ever done: giving that baby away.” Hava later described the adoption as “the one good thing I feel I did on the face of this Earth.”
