“You need to change it up, Dix. Fans are getting bored of you.” As if I needed that blow to my ego at ten in the morning while under-caffeinated and dealing with a whole host of inconvenient, lingering feelings due to my girlfriend—excuse me, ex-girlfriend—dumping me for being “emotionally unavailable.”
“Why do you hate the new guy, anyway? That’s not like you. As I so wisely noted, you usually get grumpier the longer you know someone. So, seeing as you just met this guy, you should be radiating sunshine from your pores. Spouting joy from your mouth-hole. Squeezing rainbows out of your tighter-than-a-clamshell behind.”
Dixon gives me a look. “I don’t bottom.” “Right,” I say slowly, nodding my head. “Makes sense. No room up there with that stick firmly lodged in place.”
“Yes,” Mat says vehemently. “That burning in your gut is butterflies.” “I really don’t think that’s how that works, Mat.” “Shush,” he says, practically cutting me off. “You listen to me. I’m an expert in love now.”
