“How could you do this to me? How could you do this?” Blake’s face was pale but he smiled as he closed his eyes. “Save your life, you mean? Oh, I don’t know. Had nothing in the calendar, I guess. Plus, I suppose when you’ve been in love with someone for most of your life, it’s hard to just watch them die.”

“So what I want to know is, are you mine? Or do you need me to get down on my knees for you again?”

“Well, I do think you skipped that stage before but… I think there would be very few things sweeter in this world than to be yours, David Blake.”

A slow smile spread across his face. “I love you. Have done since I was fifteen and you punched me in the balls for being mean to your best friend.”

“I will get on my knees for you every damn day, Rose. I will worship you until the day I die. Will you marry me?”
