He couldn’t know that at this very moment, people meeting in secret all over the country were holding up their glasses and saying in hushed voices: “To Harry Potter — the boy who lived!”
“Harry — yer a wizard.”
After all, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named did great things — terrible, yes, but great.”
He didn’t know what he was going to — but it had to be better than what he was leaving behind.
“Go on, have a pasty,” said Harry, who had never had anything to share before or, indeed, anyone to share it with.
Before we begin our banquet, I would like to say a few words. And here they are: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!
Great Uncle Algie came round for dinner, and he was hanging me out of an upstairs window by the ankles when my Great Auntie Enid offered him a meringue and he accidentally let go. But I bounced — all the way down the garden and into the road. They were all really pleased, Gran was crying, she was so happy.
He was wearing Professor Quirrell’s turban, which kept talking to him, telling him he must transfer to Slytherin at once, because it was his destiny. Harry told the turban he didn’t want to be in Slytherin; it got heavier and heavier; he tried to pull it off but it tightened painfully —
Wood? thought Harry, bewildered; was Wood a cane she was going to use on him?
But from that moment on, Hermione Granger became their friend. There are some things you can’t share without ending up liking each other, and knocking out a twelve-foot mountain troll is one of them.
although people rarely died playing Quidditch, referees had been known to vanish and turn up months later in the Sahara Desert.
The Potters smiled and waved at Harry and he stared hungrily back at them, his hands pressed flat against the glass as though he was hoping to fall right through it and reach them.
He had a powerful kind of ache inside him, half joy, half terrible sadness.
“So,” said Dumbledore, slipping off the desk to sit on the floor with Harry,
It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live, remember that.
“Pretend to break your leg,” Hermione suggested. “Really break your leg,” said Ron.
“He’s used to walking all over people, but that’s no reason to lie down in front of him and make it easier.”
Neville tried to take on Crabbe and Goyle single-handed! He’s still out cold but Madam Pomfrey says he’ll be all right
After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.
