Perhaps these berths are arranged radially for some reason, but I would think that, given they are out of range of the planet's gravity, and given that alloys are designed to live in space and thus would think three-dimensionally, the most logical arrangement for berths in a four-berth station would be the four quarters of a tetrahedron, which means nothing would be diagonal from anything.
