“Because her name is Angelina Sofia Sandoval,” I say. “She’s Manny Sandoval’s daughter, Roman.”
“Okay.” I head upstairs. “But you should know one thing. I’m keeping her, Roman.”
Consider your late wife before you even think about tangling yourself up with this girl.”
When she tells me who hurt her, and she will eventually, I’ll have such a great time killing them. I won’t use a gun. That’s too quick. A knife won’t do, either. Hmm. Waterboarding? Maybe, if I can find a good place to do it. Strangulation? Yes, that sounds nice. As would cutting off their extremities. I’d need a chainsaw, and damn, that shit is loud. I’ll consider it some more.
Never presume someone is dead until he’s sporting a hole in his head. That’s my motto. It even rhymes.
he places a finger under my chin and tilts my head up. “I would never put you in any kind of danger.”
I need him closer. My toes hit something solid. Yes! I step up onto the stack of hardbacks I piled on the floor and wrap my arms around Sergei’s neck.
“No one. Threatens. Your. Safety,” he bites out. “Got that, Angelina?” I blink, then nod. “Good,” he says, squeezes my neck, and slams his mouth to mine.
Until tonight, I didn’t quite grasp who Sergei Belov actually is. I listened as he killed six armed men, quickly and efficiently, with no hesitation. Now, I know. I’m falling in love with a cold-blooded killer.
Her hands move up until they rest on either side of my face, and she looks at me the way she always does—like she sees me, not someone they send in when stuff needs to be destroyed or people eliminated. Not the unhinged man everyone fears will kill them if they look at him the wrong way. Just . . .
“I’m keeping you, lisichka,” I say against her lips and slam in her again. “You’re mine.”
“I was thinking something along the lines of Prinadlezhit Sergeyu Belovu.”
“I want you to look at me while I come inside you,” he whispers and covers my body with his, entering me again.
I loop my legs around him and squeeze. “Why?”
His cock slides out then slams into me. “Because, when you look at me, I remember I’m still alive.”
“You’re the only thing that keeps my darkness away, lisichka.” I kiss her shoulder. “If, one day, you decide you’ve had enough of my shit, just leave and never look back. And make sure you hide very well.”
“Why?”
“Because, I will follow and drag you back. And there’s nowhere you’ll be able to hide if I decide to chase you, Angelina.”
“Then, it’s a good thing I’m staying.”
“Sergei!” she calls again, jumps over a dead soldier, and leaps into my arms. “You came for me.”
“Of course I came for you,” I say and kiss her like my life depends on it. “I will always come for you, baby.”
