The potential downside of undercommunicating is cavernous and terrifying. The potential downside of overcommunicating is, realistically, a few eye rolls and maybe some snarky comments. Since you can never be sure of the exact right amount of communication called for in any situation, you are always better off erring on the side of overcommunicating. In theory, at least, this is an easy one.
