My favorite take on strategy comes from product leader Adam Thomas, who describes the purpose of strategy as improving a team’s decision fitness. I love this description, because it makes room for the fact that every team and organization’s strategy can and should look different—but at the end of the day, if it isn’t helping folks on the ground make better decisions, it isn’t really a “strategy” at all.
