Yes, as a product manager, you are ultimately responsible for the outcomes delivered by your team. But this is not a responsibility you can bear alone. If you take everything that goes wrong as your own personal failure, you are depriving your team of a critical opportunity to learn and grow. Nothing runs more counter to our guiding principle of making yourself obsolete than casting yourself as the sole personal receptacle for all your team’s missteps, rather than working with your team to address the systemic challenges that may have contributed to those missteps.
