Product management is a challenging job because it can look different from company to company. It’s certainly looked different over my career. Two companies ago, an analytical product manager was highly valued—we had targets we needed to hit, and leadership favored product managers who knew how to create “big rock” ideas with financial models that neatly laddered up topline sales goals.
