It became clear to Zarathustra that Ahura Mazda—shortened by successive generations of Zoroastrians to Ormazd, Hormazd and Hormuz—is the supreme being, the uncreated spirit. Nothing exists without Ahura Mazda who is peerless, changeless and timeless.
