He moves quicker than he has right to, pressing one hand to the center of my back and leaning down, then dragging his nose along the line of my neck.
“You obviously want to run. I’ll even let you. But every time I catch you, you will come to my bed willingly.”
I follow her as if she wrapped a string around my heart and tugged.
if you submit to my commands like the good boy that I know you can be,
But only if I’m good.
I can’t move. I can’t think. I am a receptacle for her demand, so when she crooks her finger at me, I know exactly what she requires without her saying anything at all. I crawl to her.
“No.” He huffs out a rough laugh. “I think my world just tilted on its axis.”
It snaps something inside me. I crawl across the table and shove the marshmallow into his mouth.
The truth is that I can’t stand the thought of having more distance between us than necessary.
“I know I said I want to know, but if it’s going to hurt you, you don’t have to tell me.”
But, Grace.” He cups my face with one large hand. “I know you. I’ve known you from the first.”
“I have no desire to hide anything from you, either. I’ll tell you anything you want to know. Just ask.”
I care about you. Hell, I’m falling for you.
“You love her.” I don’t feel like they’re laughing at me. “Why are you sending her away if that’s how you feel?”
“Tell Grace I’m coming for her tomorrow. If she still wants to see me.” “Bram.” He looks over his shoulder at me, expression grim. “If you don’t come for her tomorrow, she’s liable to come looking for you.”
“I love you.”
“I love you, too, you know.” “I know.” Bram gathers me close and brushes gentle kisses to my lips. “But I’ll spend the rest of my life never getting tired of hearing you say it.”
