the bastard said.
“We are not as bad as you may think,” Keir said after another short pause, then added, “My father may be, and the people who killed your family, of course. But we are not. Most are not.” She paused one more time. “I am not.” “I’ll believe it when I see it,” I muttered turning back to my book. “You know,” she trailed, I could hear the smile in her tone. “Your indifference kind of turns me on.”
“I hate you,” I said. “Sit up,” she commanded. I listened to her and looked up at her. Through the darkness of the room, I could barely make out her facial features, but her bright-red eyes cut through everything. “I hate you,” I said louder, needing some type of reaction from her. “Arms up.” I obeyed again. She slipped the dress over my head. “I hate you.” “Get under the covers.”
“I hate you,” I whispered. “Prove it,” she dared.
“It’s not your fault. I shouldn’t have—” “Don’t you dare finish that sentence,”
“I asked for it,” I whispered. Her eyes shifted toward mine. “Not the others, just this one. . . I’m sorry, I wasn’t—” Her hand covered my mouth to stop me from speaking and she shook her head. “You were overwhelmed by your reaction to the venom, it’s okay,” she said. “Please don’t say sorry about this. You weren’t in your right mind.”
“And if I ask you to bite me again?” I whispered. The air stilled and Keir turned stiff against me and pulled her hand out of my underwear. “You are testing my control, Silvia,” she said. My name flowed off her tongue with ease and heated my body. “Maybe I want you to lose it,” I said.
“I’ll make sure you’re so fully obsessed with me by the end of this that you don’t even dare think of anyone else. It’s the least you could do after so thoroughly messing with my mind like this.”
“Stop it, Father,” I said. “You have lost. Now surrender like a good vampire before I make them tear your head off.”
“We should stop her,” the witch whispered by my side. I shook my head. “Let her,” I said. “She deserves this much.”
